    Day Trips Around San Antonio

Need a weekend getaway or a little more than a staycation?  Why not take a day trip to one of these great places!

Here are some of our favorites!

    Fredericksburg, Texas

Located about 70 miles north of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg has a variety of things to do year round!  There are wineries and breweries, shopping in the downtown strip, festivals, museums and historical activities, and peaches in the summer.

    Shiner, Texas

Ever wonder where the beer comes from?  A little town in South Texas called, well Shiner. Brewery tours are offered on weekdays throughout the year.  Summer hours for brewery tours (June-August) are Monday-Friday 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm.  Winter hours for brewery tours (September-May) are Monday-Friday 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.  Gift shop hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm and Saturday 11:00 am-3:00 pm.

    Gruene, Texas

Nestled within New Braunfels, TX, Gruene is a historical district that offers a variety of activities including live music just about every day in Gruene Hall, (many of the shows on weeknights are free.)  The Gruene district is also full of small specialty shops like Grueneworks, Gruene Outfitters, and The Gruene Haus.

    Austin, Texas

What ISN’T there to do in Austin, a place known for just keeping it weird?  Not only can you go paddle boarding, running, or biking along Lady Bird Lake if outdoor activities are your scene, but Austin is also home to a city-wide bike rental called B-Cycle, which allows you to navigate the city and avoid some of the automobile traffic.  If you are a foodie, Austin is THE place to explore adventurous eats.  Voodoo donuts, Franklin BBQ, Easy Tiger Beer Garden (they have great beer pretzels), and the original Torchie’s Food Truck are some great places to start. And if you like eclectic shops, hit South Congress for some interesting sights, including the iconic “I love you so much” mural.
